An outfit a day is enough right? Hmm let’s get packing

We’re about to go on our first family vacation since moving across the country and having a new addition to our family. We know more or less what to expect in terms of the weather, so this should be pretty straightforward. Let’s get to it shall we?

I started a day and half early, made a list of what each one needs to take with, and even though the packing is not done it feels like the kitchen sink, bedroom and bathroom essentials is in there already but there is still something missing. I find myself unpacking and repacking the suitcases for myself and the little ones. It eventually came down to “whatever I forget I probably don’t need it or I can get it up front”.

With a 3year old and 6 week old baby a checklist was a must, so here’s a list of what’s inside.

  1. Onesies / pajamas /rompers
  2. Baby warmers (pramsuits)
  3. Mittens
  4. Socks
  5. Hats
  6. Blankets
  7. Sleep sack
  8. Nursing pillows
  9. Tons of diapers
  10. Wet wipes
  11. Baby essential toiletries (body wash, lotion, cotton balls etc)
  12. Burp cloths

Now onto the big boy…

  1. Long sleeve vests
  2. Long John’s
  3. Underwear and socks (thick socks for his boots)
  4. Tracksuits
  5. Jacket’s (for temperatures below -30°)
  6. Snowsuit
  7. Snow boots
  8. Balaclava
  9. Toques
  10. Gloves (a pair to play in the snow & another to keep warm outdoors)
  11. Pajamas
  12. Toiletries
  13. A favorite toy/ blanket
  14. Jerseys

Best to take a little piece of home with you, especially if your child is attached to a personal item. This will make the trip more pleasant and have a happy child.

All of this packed for our holiday to Calgary – Canada, during a winter break.
